Driver charged with DWI after stopped on shoulder of roadway facing wrong way

MANSFIELD TOWNSHIP, NJ (Warren County) – A Warren County man is facing several charges including driving while intoxicated after he was reportedly stopped on the shoulder facing the wrong way.

On Oct. 30, at 7:26 p.m., a township officer responded to Route 31 for a report of a vehicle stopped on the northbound shoulder facing south, police said.

The driver, Edward C. Garland, 74, of Washington, was determined to be intoxicated and was then arrested, police said.

Garland was charged with DWI, suspended license and registration, failure to maintain lane, careless driving, reckless driving, and no insurance. He was released to a responsible adult pending a court appearance.
