
Driver dies after hitting tractor-trailer on I-78 in Hunterdon County
CLINTON TOWNSHIP, NJ (Hunterdon County) – A man was killed when the Jeep he was driving rear-ended a tractor-trailer on Interstate 78 on Sunday morning, New Jersey State Police spokesperson Sergeant Philip Curry said.
The crash occurred at 4:46 a.m. on Interstate 78 westbound at milepost 17.4 in Clinton Township, Curry said.
A preliminary police investigation revealed that a Freightliner tractor-trailer was parked on the right shoulder when a Jeep heading westbound entered the right shoulder and impacted the rear of the parked tractor-trailer, Curry said.
The driver of the jeep sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced at the scene, Curry said.
The right two lanes of I-78 were closed for several hours, Curry said.
This crash remains under investigation and no further information was available, Curry said.
