Driver, 61, dies in I-78 crash after suffering medical emergency in Hunterdon County, state police say

LEBANON BOROUGH, NJ (Hunterdon County) – A driver of a Chevy Silverado died Thursday afternoon after suffering a medical emergency while driving on Interstate 78, according to New Jersey State Police spokesperson Sergeant Philip Curry.

The crash happened at 2:14 p.m. on Interstate 78 westbound at milepost 20.2 in Lebanon Borough, Curry said.

A preliminary police investigation revealed that the driver, of a Chevy Silverado suffered a medical emergency and subsequently struck the center median guardrail, Curry said.

Troopers performed life saving measures but the 61-year-old from Nazareth, PA was pronounced dead at the scene, Curry said.

No further information was available.
