Driver found passed out behind wheel charged with DWI in Hackettstown

HACKETTSTOWN, NJ (Warren County) – Hackettstown Police said a driver was charged with driving while intoxicated after he was found passed out and slouched in the drivers seat Sunday evening.

On Sept. 20, at around 5:16 p.m. police responded to the intersection of Cindy Terrace and Hurly Drive for a report of a man sleeping in a vehicle. When officers arrived, they observed a vehicle stopped in the intersection with the male driver passed out and slouched in the seat, police said.

The officer then put the vehicle in park and while the officer was talking to the driver, who was identified as David Search, 45, of Stevensville, MT; the officer allegedly detected the odor an alcoholic beverage, police said.

The officer located an open airplane size bottle of alcohol inside the vehicle, police said.

Search was charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle, careless driving, and unregistered vehicle. He was released pending a court appearance, police said.
