Driver found unconscious in car charged with DWI in Hackettstown

HACKETTSTOWN, NJ (Warren County) – A Morris County woman is facing several charges including driving while intoxicated after she was found unconscious in the driver’s seat of a vehicle stopped in the middle of the roadway in Hackettstown early Sunday morning, police said.

On August 21, at around 4:55 a.m., police responded to the area of Grand Avenue and Beatty Street for a vehicle stopped in the middle of the road with an unconscious female driver. Upon arrival, officers observed a black BMW with an unconscious female driver, police said.

Officers attempted knocking on the window numerous times, but the driver did not wake up. The officer made entry by breaking the passenger window and putting the vehicle in park, police said.

Moments later, the driver of the vehicle, who was later identified as Meghan R. Brown, 28, of Long Valley, woke up. While the officer was speaking to Brown, the officer detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage, police said.

Brown was charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, failure to observe stop or yield signs, delaying traffic, improper display/unclear plates, careless driving, traffic on marked lanes- unsafe lane change, and refusal to consent to taking of breath samples. She was then released pending a court appearance.
