Driver hospitalized after dump truck overturns on Route 202 in Hunterdon County

RARITAN TOWNSHIP, NJ (Hunterdon County) – A driver was injured after a dump truck full of soil overturned Monday afternoon in Hunterdon County, according to a post on the Flemington-Raritan First Aid and Rescue Squad’s Facebook page.

The crash happened on Route 202 southbound near River Road in Raritan Township, the post said.

Upon arrival, rescue crews found a single-vehicle crash with a tri-axle dump truck on its side in the left turn lane, leaking diesel fuel and with its load of soil spilled into the northbound lanes of travel, authorities said.

The driver was out of the vehicle and suffered minor injuries. The driver was transported to Hunterdon Medical Center, authorities said.

Flemington-Raritan Rescue Squad assisted the Raritan Township Fire Company and Hunterdon County Haz-Mat with spill control by initially using the dumped soil to contain the diesel fuel and prevent it from entering storm drains, the post said.

The Raritan Township Police Department investigated the cause of the crash.
