
Driver injured after box truck hits Grand Ave underpass in Hackettstown
HACKETTSTOWN, NJ (Warren County) — A truck driver sustained minor injuries after his box truck slammed into the Grand Ave underpass in Hackettstown Wednesday afternoon.
On Oct. 14, at 2:12 p.m., police responded to the Grand Avenue for a report of box truck that hit the underpass and overturned, police said.
When officers arrived on scene, they observed a 2012 box truck on its side and diesel leaking from the saddle tank, police said.
Police determined that Steven Zemanek, 31, of Succasunna was travelling south on Grand Ave when he hit the underpass and overturned. The underpass is 10 feet 8 inches and the truck’s height was 12 feet 9 inches, police said.
Zemanek self-extricated and suffered a minor hand injury. He was treated at the scene, police said.
Zemankek was issued a summons for carless driving and delaying traffic, police said.
Bill’s Service Center responded to upright the box truck and tow it from the scene. Grand Ave was closed between College View Drive and Allen Road for about two hours, police said
Hackettstown Fire Department, Hackettstown First & Rescue Squad, Hackettstown Department of Public Works, Warren County Hazmat Team and Mansfield Township police assisted at the scene.
