Driver killed in fiery crash on I-78 in Hunterdon County
BETHLEHEM TOWNSHIP, NJ (Hunterdon County) – One person is dead after a car and tractor trailer collided on Interstate 78 in Hunterdon County Friday night, according to New Jersey State Police spokesperson Alejandro Goez.
It happened at 8:09 p.m. on Interstate 78 eastbound at milepost 9.6 in Bethlehem Township, Goez said.
According to Goez, A Jeep Wrangler driven by David Salem, 57, of Flemington, NJ struck a tractor trailer and went off the roadway. The Jeep then went down an embankment and became engulfed in flames.
Salmen was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the tractor trailer did not suffer any injuries, Goez said.
The crash remains under investigation, Goez said.
