Driver, passenger face charges following Sussex County crash

BYRAM TOWNSHIP, NJ (Sussex County) – A driver and his passenger are facing charges after a motor vehicle crash last month in Byram Township.

On December 30, police responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident on Route 206. When officers arrived, it was determined that Vincent A. Reinke of Newton had crossed the double yellow line while traveling on Route 206 northbound and sideswiped a vehicle traveling southbound, police said.

While police were speaking to Reinke, the officers felt he was intoxicated and was then asked to perform several field sobriety tests, which he failed. He was then placed under arrest for driving while intoxicated, police said.

A passenger in Reinke’s vehicle, Kayle E. Runne of Lake Hopatcong, was subsequently arrested for being under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance, police said.

Reinke was charged with driving while intoxicated, failure to keep right, failure to maintain lane and reckless driving.

Runne was charged with being under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance.

Additional charges maybe filed against both individuals pending results of a search that was conducted of Reinke’s vehicle, police said.
