Driver suffers serious injuries after hitting tractor-trailer on I-80 in Warren County

FRELINGHUYSEN TOWNSHIP, NJ (Warren County) – A Morris County man suffered serious injuries after the car he was driving rear-ended a parked tractor-trailer on Interstate 80 on Thursday morning, according New Jersey State Police spokesperson Trooper Charles Marchan.

The crash happened at 5:29 p.m. on Interstate 80 east at mile post 13.8 in Frelinghuysen Township, Marchan said.

A preliminary police investigation revealed a tractor trailer was disabled and parked in the right shoulder on Interstate 80 eastbound, Marchan said.

A Chevrolet passenger car, driven by Michael D. Todd, 58, of Budd Lake, was traveling east on Interstate 80 and entered the right shoulder and struck the rear of the tractor-trailer, Marchan said.

Todd suffered serious injuries and was transported to the hospital, Marchan said.

The crash remains under investigation.
