LINCOLN PARK BOROUGH, NJ (Morris County) – Authorities are currently investigating after the driver’s body was found a half-mile from his burning car in Lincoln Park Borough Saturday morning, according to Morris County Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll.
On Jan. 21, at around 7:16 a.m., first responders were notified of a vehicle fire in the commercial area of 4 Ungerer Road. Fire suppression efforts were immediately undertaken and the fire was extinguished, Carroll said.
Then at around 3:00 p.m. with the fire investigation still underway, the body of a man was discovered in a wooded area in Lynn Park, located in Lincoln Park Borough, a half mile away from the fire scene, Carroll said.
The investigation has confirmed the identity of the victim, whose name was not disclosed, was the driver of the vehicle. The cause and manner of death are pending findings of the Morris County Medical Examiner’s Office, Carroll said.
“At this time there is no indication of suspicious criminal activity,” Carroll said.
