DWI checkpoint planned for July in Chester

CHESTER, NJ (Morris County) – Chester police will be conducting a driving while intoxicated checkpoint during July.

The checkpoint will be established to identify any vehicle being operated while the operator is under the influence. Officials did not announce the exact date or location for the checkpoint.

The checkpoint will be staffed by officers from Chester Police Department and will be funded by the New Jersey Division of Highway Traffic Safety, Drunk Driving Enforcement Fund.

The Chester Police Department has set up sobriety checks in the past years which has resulted in multiple arrests for impaired driving.
