Erratic driver complaint leads to DWI arrest in Hackettstown

HACKETTSTOWN, NJ (Warren County) – A Monmouth County man faces a driving under the influence charge after he was allegedly driving erratically.

On Sept. 25, at around 6:06 p.m., police responded to the area of Main St and High St for a report of an erratic motor vehicle, police said.

An officer located and stopped the vehicle in the parking lot of 147 Main St. While the officer was speaking to the driver, who was identified Andrew Matthews, 30, of Keansburg, NJ, the officer detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage, police said.

Matthews was charged with driving while intoxicated, failure to possess a valid driver’s license, avoiding a traffic control device, and careless driving. He was released pending a court appearance, police said.
