Expect off-peak lane closures at I-78, Easton-Phillipsburg (Route 22) and Portland-Columbia bridges during week of May 14

The biennial process of inspecting the Commission’s eight toll bridges is expected to require temporary off-peak lane closures at three bridges during the week of May 14, according to the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission.

The anticipated lane-closure periods are as follows:

  • I-78 Toll Bridge westbound (Pennsylvania-bound) – one of three lanes closed 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 16.
  • Portland-Columbia Toll Bridge (serves Routes 611, 46 and 94) — alternating single-lane travel 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 17.
  • Easton-Phillipsburg (Route 22) Toll Bridge eastbound (New Jersey bound) — one of two eastbound lanes closed 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Thursday, May 18, and Friday, May 19.

Travel impacts should be minor. Motorists are advised to reduce speeds and allow additional time to reach their destinations when travel restrictions are in effect.

Motorists could encounter backups and delays when approaching the Delaware Water Gap Toll Bridge in the respective direction on either of those dates.
