Expect off-peak lane closures in vicinity of Easton-Phillipsburg (Route 22) toll bridge during week of May 22

The biennial process of inspecting the commission’s eight toll bridges is expected to require temporary off-peak lane closures at the Easton-Phillipsburg (Route 22) toll bridge and several of its approach facilities during the week of May 22, according to the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission.

The anticipated lane-closure periods are as follows:

  • Toll bridge westbound (Pennsylvania-bound) — one of two lanes closed 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday, May 22, and Tuesday, May 23; and 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 24.
  • PA Route 611 below Route 22 overpass — alternating single-lane travel controlled by flaggers 11 a.m. to noon Wednesday, May 24.
  • Third Street in Easton below Route 22 overpass — alternating single-lane travel controlled by flaggers noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 24.
  • Broad Street in Easton below Route 22 overpass — alternating single-lane travel controlled by flaggers 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 24.
  • Broad Street in Easton below Route 22 overpass — alternating single-lane travel controlled by flaggers 9 a.m. to noon Thursday, May 25.

Travel impacts should be minor. Motorists are advised to reduce speeds and allow additional time to reach their destinations when travel restrictions are in effect, the commission said.

Locations and times subject to change due to weather and/or emergencies, the commission said.
