Fatal crash under investigation in Jefferson Twp

JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – Authorities are investigating a fatal car crash which occurred on Berkshire Valley Road in Jefferson Township Saturday morning, according to Morris County Prosecutor Fredric Knapp.

The single-car crash happened at around 8:07 a.m. on Berkshire Valley Road in the area of mile marker 4.4, Knapp said.

According to Knapp, a 1973 Chevrolet Nova had impacted a tree.

A male passenger was pronounced dead at the scene and the driver was taken to Morristown Medical Center for treatment, Knapp said.

Their names were not released.

The incident is being investigated by the Jefferson Police Department, the Morris County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit and the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit.
