HOPE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Warren County) – Firefighters rushed to save a deer that fell through ice on a lake in Warren County.
On Dec. 23. at 4:14 p.m., Hope Township Fire Department was requested to assist in rescuing a deer that had fallen through the ice on Silver Lake.
Rescuers located the deer with the assistance of a Hope resident and then firefighters Francis Giambrone and Terry Urfer donned on their ice rescue suits and went on the ice to wrangle the deer and pull it back to shore.
“The young gal was happy to be back on dry land and scampered off. Hopefully she stays off the ice until it gets a little thicker,” firefighters said.
