First responders rescue cow stuck in the mud after giving birth in Hunterdon County

TEWKSBURY TOWNSHIP, NJ (Hunterdon County) – A Tewksbury First Aid and Rescue Squad crew on Saturday came to the aid of a Hunterdon County cow that got stuck in the mud after giving birth, according to a post on the Tewksbury First Aid and Rescue Squad’s Facebook page.

Crews responded at 5:15 p.m. to provide assistance to a postpartum cow in distress in Tewksbury Township, officials said.

Initial reports indicated that shortly after giving birth, the cow had gotten herself stuck in the mud, officials said.

After assessing the situation, the original crew called for additional personnel (and taller boots) to assist. In the end, 4 members of the Tewksbury Rescue Squad were involved in the operation, authorities said.

“Mother and calf were reunited, and large volumes of laundry were done,” the post said.
