Florida man pleads guilty to sexual assault
FLEMINGTON, NJ (Hunterdon County) – A Florida man has entered a guilty plea to sexual assault, according Acting Hunterdon County Prosecutor Michael J. Williams.
Wayne M. Brisson, 68, of Saint Johns, FL, pled guilty on July 17 to second-degree sexual assault, Williams said.
Brisson was arrested on February 22, 2019, after an investigation by the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office’s Special Victims Unit and the Readington Township Police Department discovered that he had allegedly engaged in sexual conduct with a victim under the age of 13 in Readington Township. These crimes occurred multiple times between 1996 and 1997, Williams said.
Brisson is scheduled to be sentenced on September 13 and faces up to 10 years in prison, Williams said.
“In this case justice finally came to the victim more than 20 years after the abuse. We are committed to pursuing justice for victims of sexual assault, if legally able to do so, no matter how long ago the abuse occurred,” Williams said.
