Former Mansfield Township mayor arrested for sexual assault against minor

HACKETTSTOWN, NJ (Warren County) – A former Mansfield Township mayor has been arrested and charged on the alleged sexual assault of a 15-year-old.

Ted J. Tomaszewski, 53, of Mansfield Township was charged with second-degree sexual assault, second-degree luring, and third-degree endangering the welfare of a child, according to the Warren County Prosecutor’s Office.

On Jan. 2, Hackettstown police received information that an underage child had been engaging in sexually inappropriate communications with Ted J. Tomaszewski, 53, of Mansfield Township, authorities said.

It is alleged that between Nov. 1, 2022 and Jan. 2, 2023, in Hackettstown and Mount Olive Township, the  Tomaszewski engaged in multiple sexual acts with a15-year-old victim, prosecutor’s office said.

Tomaszewski’s initial first appearance in Warren County Superior Court was held on Jan. 12 and he remains lodged in Warren County Jail.

The Warren County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victim’s Unit, Hackettstown Police Detriment, and Mansfield Township Police Department assisted in the investigation.
