GoFundMe set up for Morris County family who lost everything in house fire

ROCKAWAY TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – A GoFundMe has been set up for a Morris County family who lost everything in a house fire Saturday night.

The fire happened at a residence on Meggins Road, located in the Lake Telemark section, of Rockaway Township. No one was injured, however, one dog died.

The GoFundMe was created by Tucker Kelley, who says, Jennifer Gares, 44, her 21-year-old daughter and her 2-year-old granddaughter lost their home as well as all of their belongings.

“Jenn and her family are in immediate need of finances to provide support for food, shelter, clothing and immediate needs. We greatly appreciate any help you can provide. They’re a wonderful, caring family who is going through an extremely difficult time,” Kelley wrote.

Currently, clothes, diapers, checks and gift cards are being collected. The granddaughter is a size 4T or a 4-5, the daughter and mother are both XL on shirts and leggings, size 14 jeans and pants. New undergarments and socks would also be helpful (new is preferred). Housing is something else that will be needed, Kelley said.

The clothing can be dropped off at the front lobby of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, located at 508 Greenpond Road, which is open 24 hours. Clothes, checks, and gift cards cab be dropped of at 16 Meggins Road in Rockaway.

“We have had devastating tragedies in our community over the years and when the request for help was circulated for other families, Jennifer Gares always donated in many ways to help those in need,” Kelley wrote.

The GoFundMe has set a goal of $10,000 for the family. As of Sunday morning, it has raised over $1,000. If you would like to donate to help out the family, click here.
