Gottheimer helps local students make “Valentines for Veterans”

NORTH JERSEY — U.S. Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5) Tuesday worked with local elementary school students at Martha B Day Elementary School in Bloomingdale to make Valentine’s Day cards for local veterans.

Gottheimer is encouraging students and residents across North Jersey to participate in “Valentines for Veterans” by dropping off cards at his New Jersey offices. Gottheimer distributed the student-made Valentines cards to local veterans at the Paramus Veterans Memorial Home to thank them for their service.

“Having the backs of our veterans and our active-duty service members is one of my top priorities in Congress,” Gottheimer said. “We owe the freedoms we enjoy, living in the greatest country in the world, to those who fight to protect and defend those freedoms every day. This is just one small way we can say thank you to them for their service. I am so proud of all the students participating for recognizing the sacrifices our brave men and women make every single day.”

The cards will also be delivered to local veterans, American Legion posts, and VFW posts. If you have any questions about Valentines for Vets, call Gottheimer at 201-389-1100.
