GPS leads to box truck getting stuck in underpass in Hackettstown

HACKETTSTOWN, NJ (Warren County) — A New York man was issued a summons after his truck got stuck in an underpass on Grand Avenue in Hackettstown.

On Friday, Jan. 13, at around 5:34 a.m., police responded to the Grand Avenue for a report of truck stuck in the underpass, police said.

Through a police investigation, it was determined that Joseph Mannino, 49, of Staten Island was travelling south on Grand Ave in a 2019 box truck when he was following his GPS and didn’t notice the traffic signs indicating that the height of the underpass is 10 feet 8 inches and the truck’s height is 11 feet 9 inches, police said.

No injuries were reported, police said.

Bills Service Center responded to assist in removing the box truck, police said.

Mannino was issued a traffic summons. He also had an $81.00 Fairfield Township Municipal Court traffic warrant and was issued a new court date, police said.

Grand Ave was closed between College View Dr and Allen Rd for approximately 1 1/2 hours. Assisting at the scene was the Mansfield Township police Department, police said.
