Hackettstown HS varsity competition cheer team wins 2 bids to nationals

HACKETTSTOWN, NJ (Warren County) – The Hackettstown High School varsity competition cheer team competed at the 2019 UCA Pocono Regional Competition on Saturday at Nazareth Area High School.

The team took second place for Game Day with a score of 87.2 and fourth place for traditional with a score of 83. This qualifies them for the UCA National High School Cheerleading Championship in Orlando, Florida in February.

Their scores from the regional competition were the highest in the history of Hackettstown’s program.

This is the third year that the girls have qualified for nationals in Game Day and their second year for Traditional.

Born and raised in Northwest NJ, Jay has a degree in Communications and has had a life-long interest in local radio and various styles of music. Jay has held numerous jobs over the years such as stunt car driver, bartender, voice-over artist, traffic reporter (award winning), NY Yankee maintenance crewmember and peanut farm worker. His hobbies include mountain climbing, snowmobiling, cooking, performing stand-up comedy and he is an avid squirrel watcher. Jay has been a guest on America’s Morning Headquarters,program on The Weather Channel, and was interviewed by Sam Champion.
