INDEPENDENCE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Warren County) – A Hackettstown man has been arrested in connection with an aggravated assault that occurred at Stage Dolls in Independence Township earlier this month, police said.
Steve Fernandez, 31, was charged with aggravated assault, 2 counts of unlawful possession of a weapon, and 2 counts of possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
According to police, on Nov. 22, at around 12:30 a.m., Independence Township Police were notified of a male victim that had been admitted to Hackettstown Medical Center. He suffered serious injuries to his head and face, police said.
The Independence Township detective Bureau along with the Warren County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit began to investigate the incident.
The investigation revealed that on Nov. 21, at around 9:00 p.m., Fernandez allegedly met the victim in the parking lot of Stage Dolls, located at 318 Route 46, police said.
Fernandez and the victim had a brief conversation and then Fernandez allegedly held a knife to the victim’s abdomen area. The victim turned to walk away and that’s when he was struck in the head with a blunt object, police said.
Fernandez was arrested on Nov. 25 and lodged in the Warren County Correctional Facility where he will await a detention hearing, police said.
