Hackettstown man charged with assaulting police officer

HACKETTSTOWN, NJ (Warren County) – A Hackettstown man is facing several charges including assaulting a police officer in Hackettstown.

On Jan. 26, at 9:39 p.m., Hackettstown police responded to the 100 block of High St for a report of a dispute. Through an investigation it was determined that Jordan Aroneo, 34, would be arrested for simple assault, police said.

During the course of the arrest, Aroneo allegedly twisted an officer’s leg causing the officer to fall on his right knee and injuring his knee and thumb, police said.

Aroneo also allegedly resisted arrest by forcing his hands away from officers and underneath his body to avoid being placed in handcuffs, police said.

Aroneo was charged with simple assault, resisting arrest, aggravated assault on law enforcement and disorderly conduct. He was lodged in the Warren County Correctional Facility pending a court appearance, police said.
