HANOVER TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – A Hackettstown man is facing several charges including drug possession and resisting arrest in Hanover Township.
Noel Nieves, 32, was charged with possession of controlled dangerous substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, tampering with evidence, resisting arrest and failure to turn over controlled dangerous substance to law enforcement.
On Feb. 15, an officer responded to the Extended Stay America Hotel, located on Route 10, for a report of a belligerent and intoxicated individual. When officers arrived, the manager stated Nieves was being rude to guests and to her and she wanted him removed from the hotel, police said.
Nieves was located outside of the hotel walking on Route 10 and he was approached by officers and after a brief discussion he was offered a ride out of town, police said.
Prior to Nieves being placed in the patrol vehicle, a search was conducted of his belongings and CDS was located. He attempted to destroy the CDS located in his possession and began fighting and resisting the officers on scene, police said.
Nieves was eventually subdued and charged. He was transported to the hospital for an evaluation and after obtaining medical clearance he was then transported to the county jail pending a court appearance.
