Hackettstown man faces drug charges

MANSFIELD TOWNSHIP, NJ (Warren County) –  A 65-year-old Hackettstown man faces drug charges after an incident at the ShopRite in Mansfield Township on Saturday.

On Sept. 26, at 6:21 p.m., police responded to the ShopRite parking lot on the report of a man who appeared to be intoxicated. The man was reportedly almost struck by a vehicle and was trying to get into another vehicle, police said.

Officers located Steven Fried and observed heroin and a straw on his front passenger seat. He was arrested and a total of 8 baggies of heroin and 3 empty baggies were found, police said.

Fried was charged with possession of heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia and being under the influence of heroin. He was released pending a court appearance, police said.
