Hackettstown’s Halloween Downtown event attracts thousands (PHOTOS)

HACKETTSTOWN, NJ (Warren County) – Thousands of costumed residents came out to the 9th annual Hackettstown Halloween Downtown event Saturday afternoon.

The event started with a parade down West Moore Street and conclude at the Main Street Gazebo where trick-or-treaters were able to get candy from Mars Wrigley, toothbrushes from Atlantic Health System/Hackettstown Medical Center, gifts from Wawa and WRNJ Radio and pumpkins from Donaldson Farms.

The Hackettstown Fire Department, and Hackettstown First Aid and Rescue Squad had vehicles on display.

The trick-or-treaters then were able to visit businesses along Main Street who were handing out candy. A Trunk-or-Treat was also held in the rear parking lot of Trinity United Methodist Church.

Here is a list of the Best Halloween Costume winners:

    • Infant to 3-years-old: Andy and Ashton, 2, of Hackettstown dressed as “Bubba Gump”

    • 4-years-old to 6-years-old: Juliet, 5, of Hackettstown dressed as a “Jellyfish”

    • 7-years-old to 10-years-old: Olivia, 9, of Sparta Township dressed as a “fish tank”

    • Pet: Mako, 8, of Frankford Township dressed as a “pirate ship”

    • Family: Whitehouse Family of Green Township dressed as “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs”

The event was sponsored by the Hackettstown Police Department and co-sponsored by Mars Wrigley, Atlantic Health System/Hackettstown Medical Center, Hackettstown Business Improvement District and Centenary University.

Jay Edwards

Born and raised in Northwest NJ, Jay has a degree in Communications and has had a life-long interest in local radio and various styles of music. Jay has held numerous jobs over the years such as stunt car driver, bartender, voice-over artist, traffic reporter (award winning), NY Yankee maintenance crewmember and peanut farm worker. His hobbies include mountain climbing, snowmobiling, cooking, performing stand-up comedy and he is an avid squirrel watcher.
