Heroin, drug paraphernalia found during traffic stop in Mount Olive Twp.
MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – A Florida woman is facing drug charges after police allegedly find heroin and drug paraphernalia during a traffic stop last week in Mount Olive Township.
On Sept. 3, at 7:23 a.m., a township officer responded to the parking lot of 193 Route 206 for a suspicious white BMW which had the rear window broken and was occupied by a sleeping female, police said.
Upon the officer’s arrival, the officer observed the vehicle traveling on Flanders Bartley Road onto Main Street. The driver was on a hand held device, failing to maintain a lane and failed to signal a lane change, police said.
The officer stopped the vehicle and made contact with the driver, who was identified as Alexa Montanaro, 29, of Grand Island, FL. While the officer was speaking to Montanaro, the officer observed hypodermic syringe caps and other drug paraphernalia, commonly used to ingest heroin around the vehicle floor boards, police said.
Montanaro was asked to exit the vehicle and during the course of the investigation, suspected heroin was located in the vehicle, police said.
Montanaro was charged with possession of heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of syringe, driving while suspended, failure to signal lane change and possession of controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle. She was then transported to the Warren County Jail for an outstanding warrant.
