Heroin, Xanax, oxycodone found during traffic stop in Sussex County

BYRAM TOWNSHIP, NJ (Sussex County) – A Morris County is facing drug charges following a traffic stop in Byram Township.

On October 15, an officer observed a vehicle with purple license plate lights make a left turn on to Route 206 from Brookwood Road and then the vehicle failed to maintain its lane, police said.

The officer stopped the vehicle and while speaking to the driver, identified as Ronald C. Hicks of Dover, the officer observed drug paraphernalia in the vehicle. He was then found to be holding an oxycodone pill in his hand, police said.

Hicks was arrested and a subsequent search revealed other controlled dangerous substances as well a drug paraphernalia, police said.

Hicks was charged with possession of heroin, possession of Xanax, possession of oxycodone, possession of prescription legend drug five or more dosage units, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle, improper turn, failure to maintain lane and color of light emitted, police said.

Hicks was released pending a court appearance, police said.
