House destroyed by fire in Hunterdon County
READINGTON TOWNSHIP, NJ (Hunterdon County) – A house was destroyed by flames early Monday morning in Readington Township.
The fire broke out at around 12:20 a.m at a home on Readington Road, police said.
According to police, the initial investigation revealed that the sleeping residents were woken by the sounding smoke detectors in the home. All of them narrowly escaped the blaze due to their rapid evacuation.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Readington Township Police Dept and Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office, police said.
Readington Police are reminding all residents to check their smoke and CO detectors for operability.
