Hunterdon County Commissioner Jeff Kuhl reminds residents about Medicare open enrollment
Medicare Open Enrollment Runs Through December 7th
HUNTERDON COUNTY, NJ – Hunterdon County Commissioner Jeff Kuhl reminds residents that Medicare open enrollment is currently open and runs through December 7.
“State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) volunteers are available at the Senior Center at no cost to the public to assist with enrollment and changes. Counselors can help participants verify if a plan covers specific medicines, works with their pharmacy, and if the plan covers the medical services they may need,” Kuhl said.
Human Services Administrator Meagan O’Reilly said, “Medicare open enrollment often results in many questions among members of the community. Using a SHIP counselor is a great opportunity to make an informed decision regarding what plan best meets an individual’s needs for a price they can afford.”
“Each year plans change with respect to cost and coverage. Using a free, SHIP counselor is a great opportunity to select an appropriate medical plan as well as enroll in prescription drug coverage if you don’t already have prescription coverage,” Kuhl said.
Individuals that are interested in scheduling an appointment with a SHIP counselor should call the Hunterdon County Senior Center at 908-788-1361.
