HUNTERDON COUNTY, NJ – The Hunterdon County Commissioners recently selected Andrew Bernath to succeed Janet Previte as Hunterdon County’s new CFO.

The Board’s decision follows Ms. Previte’s recent announcement that she would be retiring after nearly 37 years of dedicated service to the County.

Upon reflecting upon Andrew Bernath’s credentials, Commissioner Director Zach Rich said, “Mr. Bernath possesses both his Certified Municipal Finance Officer (CMFO) and Certified County Finance Officer (CCFO) certifications. In addition, Mr. Bernath also holds a Qualified Certified Purchasing Agent (QPA) certification.”

Bernath has over a decade of experience working in local government finance including his current post as the Administrator / CFO & QPA for the Borough of Franklin in Sussex County. Prior to that, he also held financial posts in the Borough of Frenchtown and Township of Woodbridge where he was a respected member of their staff.

Commissioner Shaun C. Van Doren, who serves as member of the County Budget Committee said, “I had the opportunity to interview Mr. Bernath and believe that he will do a fine job as Janet Previte’s successor.”

The Commissioner Board also collectively expressed their thanks for Janet Previte for her strong leadership and dedication in her current position as CFO.

“Janet, I know that I speak for my colleagues when I say that we all appreciate your hard work and dedication to this County and appreciate all that you have done throughout your tenure as CFO,” Van Doren said.

Andrew Bernath will start his employment with Hunterdon County on February 6 and will spend the remainder of the month working alongside Janet Previte.

“While Ms. Previte leaves large shoes to fill, I believe that Mr. Bernath will enjoy building upon the strong foundation that he will inherit from Ms. Previte,” Rich said.
