Hunterdon County Commissioners award contract for shared services tax software
HUNTERDON COUNTY, NJ – The Hunterdon County Commissioners recently voted to unanimously approve the contract award with BRT Technologies LLC (BRT), to furnish automated data processing services for the Board of Taxation, in the amount not to exceed $329,940.
The contract is for property tax assessment software, to benefit the Hunterdon County Board of Taxation and the 26 municipal tax assessor’s offices.
BRT is a New Jersey based software developer, comprised of industry-leading software engineers and certified tax assessors, and is widely known as a patented leader in mobile and cloud-based software solutions. With over 150 combined years of experience in tax assessment experience, BRT products and services are currently used in the counties throughout New Jersey.
Commissioner John Lanza, who also serves as the liaison to the Board of Taxation said, “The Hunterdon County Board of Taxation oversees the assessment of real property within the County, which in 2023 is valued at $25.16 billion dollars. This contract with BRT will help establish strategic integration, using updated software to allow municipalities throughout Hunterdon` to better communicate among its various offices, which allow them to better serve their residents and improve overall office efficiency.”
The contract with BRT, includes shared services for the municipalities, with the county government paying for notice of assessment postcards annually for the municipalities and for the municipality’s tax software in the tax assessor’s office.
Hunterdon County Tax Assessor, Tony Porto said, “The extended benefits of the BRT contract are recognized in the cost of services, that will decrease 4.3 percent for the first year of the contract. Over the three-year contract period the cost will increase by 2.1%, with an average annual increase of .7% a year, which is far below the rate of inflation. The software update will benefit new and existing technology for the daily functions of the county tax assessor’s office, from a knowledgeable tech team that can be trusted.”
