Enhancements to Include New ADA Compliant Bleachers
HUNTERDON COUNTY, NJ – The Hunterdon Board of Commissioners recently authorized a contract with Ben Schaffer Recreation, Inc., to complete a full rehabilitation of the softball field located at Deer Path Park.
This most recent investment in Deer Path Park coincides with additional planned upgrades at the county’s flagship park including the installation of an all-inclusive playground and renovated bathroom facilities.
During his acceptance speech as Director of the Hunterdon County Commissioner Board for 2023, Commissioner Zach Rich said, “Hunterdon County’s parks and open spaces are, in my view, the jewel in the crown of what makes Hunterdon County a great place to live.”
The softball field improvements at Deer Path Park will include a new infield, bases, pitcher’s mound, and installation of safety fencing. In addition to the field upgrades, the contract with Ben Schaffer Recreation, Inc. also calls for the installation of ADA compliant bleachers so that additional spectators can enjoy watching some friendly competition.
“The County open space fund is well positioned to make targeted investments in our parks and open space properties that will enhance the visitor experience and continue to contribute our residents high quality of life,” Rich said.
The contract with Ben Schaffer Recreation, Inc. was procured under the New Jersey Cooperative Purchasing Alliance with the contract award not to exceed $127,483.88.
