Hunterdon County Commissioners honor Girl Scout troop with proclamation

HUNTERDON COUNTY, NJ – Hunterdon County Commissioner Susan Soloway recently spent the afternoon with members of local Girl Scout Troop 80174 to award them with a proclamation in honor of earning the Girl Scout Bronze Award.

To earn this award, Troop 80174, renovated the Route 12 Dog Park, by building boxes filled with dog toys, installing benches, leash holders and new signage.

The Girl Scouts raised money for this project through a nut sale and cookie sale. Additionally, the girls organized a Grand Reopening of the Dog Park at which the scouts’ distributed bags of homemade dog treats they prepared.

“I am so proud of these girls and all the hard work that went into the beautiful renovations of this dog park. Troop 80174 has demonstrated their pledge to live by the Girl Scout Promise and Girl Scout Law by completing a project to allow members of the community to spend quality time exercising and playing with their dogs,” Soloway said.

The Girl Scouts of America was founded in 1912, upon a commitment to provide young girls with the skills and opportunities to become leaders in their communities and the world.

“The Hunterdon County Board of Commissioners extends to Girl Scout Troop 80174, their sincere congratulations upon receiving the well-deserved Bronze Award for their project. Keep up the great work girls!,” Soloway said.
