Hunterdon County commissioners urges MVC to restore vehicle registration services in Flemington
FLEMINGTON, N.J. (Hunterdon County) — Hunterdon County Commissioner Director John E. Lanza has called on the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission (NJMVC) to restore vehicle registration services at its Flemington facility, citing hardships for residents, businesses, and local governments.
In a letter to Acting Chief Administrator Latrecia Littles-Floyd, Lanza outlined the disruption caused by the removal of registration services, which has forced county residents to travel to neighboring counties for routine transactions.
“The absence of registration services in Flemington is not just an inconvenience — it’s a burden,” Lanza said. “It increases costs for working families, reduces efficiency for local governments, and puts our smaller auto dealers at a competitive disadvantage. Our residents deserve the same level of service and access as those in other parts of the state.”
He emphasized that restoring services would be a “common-sense step” toward improving government accessibility and fairness across the region.
“We hope the NJMVC will act swiftly to correct this oversight and return full services to the Flemington location,” Lanza added. “Hunterdon County residents should not have to cross county lines to complete basic vehicle transactions.”
Lanza also shared his letter with legislators from the 15th, 16th, and 23rd legislative districts representing Hunterdon County.
