Hunterdon County Health Department hosting COVID-19 free test Kit distribution event and COVID vaccine clinics

FLEMINGTON, NJ (Hunterdon County) – The Hunterdon County Health Department is offering a free COVID-19 test kit distribution event on Tuesday, January 10 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Building #1 located at the Route 12 County Complex located at 314 Route 12, Flemington, NJ 08822.

Hunterdon County Commissioner Shaun C. Van Doren, the Board’s liaison to the Health Department said, “No pre-registration is required, and households will be provided up to 4 rapid antigen test kits at no cost to them.”

Health Department Director Karen DeMarco said, “With COVID-19 on the rise in the County and throughout State of New Jersey, the Health Department wants to ensure that our residents have access to rapid antigen test kits.”

In addition to providing test kits at the January 10th event, Van Doren said, “Health Department staff will also be providing educational materials related to COVID-19 and other pressing health related matters at the distribution event.”

Beyond testing, the Hunterdon County Health Department is continuing to provide COVID vaccine clinics for ages 6 months and above at the Health Department offices. The Department is providing an appointment-only pediatric clinic on January 17th for those ages 4 years of age and older. On January 18th from 4:00pm to 6:00 pm, the Health Department is offering a clinic for those over 5 years old, and no appointment is required.

In addition to traditional clinics, the Health Department is also partnering with other organizations to provide community-based clinics throughout the County. The Health Department also provides vaccine to residents who are unable to leave their homes in the Mobile Homebound Vaccine program.

The CDC recommends everyone eligible should get vaccinated and boosted. According to the CDC, COVID-19 vaccines are safe and highly effective at preventing severe illness, hospitalization, and death.
