Hunterdon County man arrested for secretly recording people in bathrooms

HUNTERDON COUNTY, NJ – A Hunterdon County man has been charged in two towns with invasion of privacy after he allegedly observed and secretly recorded multiple individuals while they were in various bathrooms, according to Acting Hunterdon County Prosecutor Michael J. Williams.

Douglas Gimson, 31, of Hampton was arrested on Dec. 3 and charged in Flemington with one count of third-degree invasion of privacy and one count of fourth-degree invasion of privacy. He was also charged in Lambertville City with one count of third-degree invasion of privacy and one count of fourth-degree invasion of privacy, Williams said.

A joint investigation by the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office’s Special Victims Unit, the Flemington Borough police Department, and the Lambertville City Police Department revealed that Gimson observed and secretly recorded multiple individuals while they were in various bathrooms without the identified victims’ knowledge or consent, Williams said.

The charges encompass numerous incidents from approximately November 2016 until May 2017 in Lambertville and from November 2019 until March 2020 in Flemington, Williams said.
