Hunterdon County Surrogate Court returns to conducting business virtually due to current surge in COVID cases

HUNTERDON COUNTY, NJ – Hunterdon County Surrogate Susan J. Hoffman has announced that Surrogate Court has returned to a virtual format for conducting business, except for title searches, and court staff will continue to be available during regular business hours, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

“We are currently limiting exposure for our staff and the public in light of the surge in COVID cases but have made an accommodation for Title Searchers who may visit the Records Room to conduct their business because it is a separate room and allows visitors to stay secluded,” Hoffman said.

All Surrogate Court matters should be brought to the Justice Center drop box in the lobby, as was done previously.

Title Search visitors should identify themselves to Justice Center security personnel to be admitted into the Surrogate Court’s Records Room, an appointment is not necessary at this time.

“This is for the health and safety of everyone, and our Court remains committed to assisting the public remotely with probates, administrations, guardianships and adoptions,” Surrogate Hoffman concluded.

For more information, visit the Surrogate Court’s website or call 908-788-1156.
