I-80 eastbound daytime lane closures during the week needed for retaining wall repairs in Knowlton Township

Expect possible congestion during the morning commute

KNOWLTON TOWNSHIP, NJ (Warren County) – New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials Tuesday announced the continuation of daytime lane closure of the right lane on I-80 eastbound before the S-curve for retaining wall repairs in Knowlton Township.

From 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday for the next two months, NJDOT’s contractor IEW Construction Inc., will be closing the right lane on I-80 eastbound just before the S-curve near mile post 1.0 through mile post 1.4. One lane will remain open during construction. The work is necessary to repair the retaining wall and parapet.

Last year a section of damaged pipe under I-80, unrelated to the erosion at the base of the retaining wall, was found and repaired. In addition, the entire drainage system was cleaned and repairs were made to inlets and a drainage outfall.

The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors. Motorists are encouraged to check NJDOT’s traffic information website for construction updates and real-time travel information.
