Independence Twp. man charged with criminal trespass, heroin possession

HACKETTSTOWN, NJ (Warren County) – A Independence Township man is facing charges after he allegedly entered a vehicle and was found to be in possession of heroin Wednesday night in Hackettstown.

Brian Etchison, 41, was charged with third-degree possession of heroin, criminal trespass, and disorderly conduct.

Officers responded at around 8:22 p.m. to the 100 block of Bergen St for an activated panic alarm. While officers were responding, a 9-1-1 call was received from the same residence reporting a man was in the victim’s vehicle, police said.

Prior to officers arriving, a man had exited the vehicle and walked along the railroad tracks toward High St. An officer located the male on High St near Fifth St and he was identified as Etchison, police said.

Through an investigation it was determined that Brian was the individual in the vehicle and was allegedly his possession 13 glassine bags of suspected heroin, police said.

Etchison was then lodged in the Warren County Correctional Facility.
