Installation of LED lighting at Hunterdon County Main Branch Library Headquarters projected to save county taxpayers over $120,000
RARITN TOWNSHIP, NJ (Hunterdon County) – Hunterdon County Administrator Brad Myhre recently shared that the recent installation of LED lighting at the Hunterdon County Library Main Branch Headquarters, located on Route 12 in Raritan Township, is projected to yield significant savings for county taxpayers.
Hunterdon County engaged in this lighting upgrade as part of JCP&L’s C&I Energy Prescriptive & Custom Program, which provides applicants with an incentive to purchase and install electric energyefficient equipment.
The Prescriptive Program offers a wide range of pre-qualified “standard” measures with a set incentive value where the energy savings are well determined.
Estimated electricity savings for the County per year is over $24,000.00, with an anticipated taxpayer savings of roughly $120,803.22 over a five-year period. In addition, the County will receive an initial rebate of $20,935.00 toward the cost of the lighting upgrade.
Deputy Commission Director Jeff Kuhl, who also serves as liaison to the County Library said, “The installation of LED lighting at the Main Branch Library will not only benefit taxpayers in significant savings but it will also upgrade the lighting features for patrons at the library. I want to thank Justin Tibbetts, Superintendent of Building and Maintenance, and his team for this foresight and successful implementation of this project.”
The energy efficiency upgrades provided by JCP&L, are for implementation under New Jersey Clean Energy Act of 2018. The benefit for this program is designed to support energy efficiency in customer facilities including municipal, government, and institutional facilities.
Superintendent Justin Tibbetts said, “To help put these energy efficiency upgrades in perspective, the Library LED upgrade project savings are equivalent to removing 38 vehicles from the road, eliminating 62.00 tons of landfill CO2 emissions, and powering 320.20 homes for one month.”
