Ithaca College student from Somerset County killed in New York crash

ITHACA, NY – An Ithaca College sophomore from Somerset County was killed in a single-vehicle crash Saturday in New York.

On September 10, shortly after 8:00 a.m., New York State Police responded to a report of a vehicle that crashed into a wooded area off Coddington Road in Ithaca, state police said.

An investigation at the scene revealed that sometime in the morning hours of September 10, Shea T. Colbert, 20, of Bridgewater Township was traveling south east on Coddington Road, state police said.

Colbert exited the roadway and struck multiple trees within the wooded area, state police said.

Colbert was pronounced dead on scene. No one else was in the vehicle, state police said.

The investigation is on-going, state police said.

“It is with profound sadness that we share with our campus community that an automobile accident in Ithaca early Saturday morning has taken the life of one of our students, Shea Colbert. A sophomore in the School of Business, Shea was a graduate of Bridgewater-Raritan High School in New Jersey,” Ithaca College officials said in a release.

“This is devastating news, and we ask that you please join us in holding Shea’s family, friends, classmates, professors, and everyone whose life he touched on campus in our prayers and in our hearts,” Ithaca College officials said.
