Laurie Berkner kids’ concert opens New Jersey Lottery Festival of Ballooning celebration

READINGTON TOWNSHIP, NJ (Hunterdon County) — Best-selling children’s recording artist Laurie Berkner —named the “Adele of the preschool crowd” by The New York Times — will headline this year’s children’s concert at the 40th annual New Jersey Lottery Festival of Ballooning.

The Princeton, NJ native, who performed the Festival’s first-ever kids’ concert in 2017 and has become a Festival staple, continues to provide a fun way for families to begin enjoying their Festival experience.

She’ll perform on Opening Day, Friday, July 28 at 1:30 p.m. at Solberg Airport in Readington, NJ.

With an average of more than 22 million monthly streams and millions of CDs and DVDs sold, Berkner’s songs have become beloved classics for children worldwide.

Her debut DVD, which went quadruple platinum, was the first-ever indie children’s music DVD to enter Billboard’s Top Music Video chart at #1. She has released 15 best-selling albums including the recently released Another Laurie Berkner Christmas, was the first recording artist ever to perform in music videos on Nick Jr., and has authored a number of picture books based on her songs. Her top five music videos have garnered more than 108 million views on YouTube.

No wonder People magazine recognizes her as the “queen of kids’ music.”

2023 marks the 25th anniversary of the release of her hit album, Buzz Buzz, with a remastered version to be released both digitally and on vinyl on October 6.

Having Laurie open the Festival was a must,” said Festival Executive Producer Howard Freeman. “We’re thrilled to continue to present a dedicated concert for children ages 2 to 8 and then fill the skies with giant, colorful hot air balloons as we create a day of memories for everyone in the family.”

This will be Berkner’s fifth concert at the New Jersey Lottery Festival of Ballooning, which has been named the premiere family attraction in New Jersey by the USA TODAY Network.

The three-day festival, July 28-29-30, 2023 features the awe-inspiring spectacle of up to 100 balloons taking flight twice each day, along with affordable family entertainment including concerts, fireworks, children’s amusement rides, and family entertainment in a safe, outdoor environment spread across Solberg Airport’s 744 acres.
