Left turn only markings spelled wrong on Route 31 in Warren County should be corrected tonight, NJDOT official says

WASHINGTON BOROUGH, NJ (Warren County) – Anyone can make a spelling mistake but some small errors made by a contractor last week received a lot of attention.

The word “only” below a left turn arrow at the intersection of Route 31 and Route 57 in Washington Borough was painted wrong at least twice.

The misspelled markings were applied on Saturday night, September 17 and are only temporary, New Jersey Department of Transportation spokesperson Steve Schapiro said.

The one mistake was corrected on Monday night, September 19 and another coat will be applied tonight, September 20 to enhance the visibility, Schapiro said.

The mistake was made by a contractor and they repaired it at their expense, Schapiro said.

“They are completing the work tonight, so everything should be correct by tomorrow, September 21,” Schapiro said.
