Long Valley man indicted on attempted murder charges in shooting

MORRISTOWN, NJ (Morris County) – A former Olympic equestrian has been indicted on attempted murder charges in connection with a shooting in Long Valley, according to Morris County Prosecutor Fredric Knapp.

Michael Barisone, 54, of West Mill Road, Long Valley was indicted on Dec. 18 with two counts of first-degree attempted murder, and two counts of second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, Knapp said.

On Aug. 7, at around 2:13 p.m., Washington Township police received a 911 call from a female at 411 West Mill Road reporting gunshot wounds, Knapp said.

Police responded to the scene and located one female who had sustained what appeared to be multiple gunshot wounds. Barisone, and a second male victim were also located at the scene. A handgun was also recovered, Knapp said.

The investigation would reveal Barisone to have allegedly fired the gun during the incident, Knapp said.
