Man accused of sexually assaulting victim at gunpoint in Warren County
PHILLIPSBURG, NJ (Warren County) – A Warren County man has been charged for allegedly sexually assaulting a victim at gun point in Phillipsburg, according to the Warren County Prosecutor’s Office.
On May 18, a victim reported being sexually assaulted at gunpoint by Qasim T. Woods, 41, of Phillipsburg and during the assault, the victim reported he made threats to kill the victim, authorities said.
During the course of the investigation, Woods was located with a silver revolver believed to have been utilized during the sexual assault. Police determined that the firearm was reported stolen out of Pennsylvania, the prosecutor’s office said.
Woods was charged on May 19 with third-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, and fourth-degree tampering with physical evidence.
Based on a further investigation, Woods was charged on May 25 with first-degree aggravated sexual assault, second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, third-degree terroristic threats, and third-degree receiving stolen property.
Woods is currently lodged in the Warren County Jail pending his first court appearance.
The Warren County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victim’s Unit, the Phillipsburg Police Department, and the Warren County Tactical Response Team assisted in the investigation.
