Man accused of slamming door on officer’s forearm

HACKETTSTOWN, NJ (Warren County) – A Hackettstown man is facing charges after he allegedly slammed the door on an officer’s forearm.

William Canfield, 58, was charged with aggravated assault on a law enforcement and resisting arrest.

On Jan. 11, at around 1:05 a.m., town police responded to a residence on the 700 block of Willow Grove St for a report of a dispute, police said.

While the officer was attempting to arrest Canfield, he slammed the front door on the officer’s right forearm. He then allegedly used physical force to avoid arrest but was eventually handcuffed, police said.

Canfield was lodged in the Warren County Correctional Facility.
